As people step away from undue opulence, inherited china, and storage units stuffed past capacity, there is a trend to release the too much, too many lifestyle in favor of simplicity. Tiny houses, minimalism, and experiences over merchandise cannot negate the holy grail of these times: power. We want the energy to power our devices and we want the instant connection on a global level.
Intrinsically and collectively there has been a surge to heed the call and step into one’s own power. True power isn’t aggressive, controlling or ego based but instead comes from a place of inner strength and knowing. When you accept that your potential is infinitely limitless, you are stepping into a place of power. When your actions inspire someone else to create, you are standing in your power.
Letting go of resentments and allowing yourself to move on frees you to develop that sense of inner strength and self acceptance. When you release any harbored or residual blame, you are no longer controlled by past expectations or outcomes but instead can embrace life as always evolving with no mistakes, only lessons. Eventually it comes down to the question: Are you fulfilling your destiny or someone else’s?
Lately, many highly sensitive people have been feeling a sense of urgency to make the most of their time left on the planet. Some would argue this is a Pavlovian response to the fear based mentality so prevalent nationally as well as globally. But with this pull towards something more, there is a desire to put ourselves on the list for what we truly want in our lives. Many of us kick ass at taking care of everyone else’s needs, desires, and magic fairy wishes but when it comes to our own, we are bewildered as we try to learn a new response to an unpracticed skill.
Through consciously choosing how you want to live your life, you develop trust and become centered in the knowing that you are in the right place at the right time. Often we may be attached to a specific outcome or can only see our lives progressing a certain way. Stepping into your power is releasing this need to control and instead claiming what brings you joy. When you own your part in the life you are co-creating, you break the dependence on other people’s opinions of who you are or how you choose to live your life.
Writing or saying daily affirmations that feel good and fit for you on an intuitive level is one way to become more comfortable stepping into your power. It may feel awkward or even a little ridiculous at first but as you integrate this into your daily routine, you plant new seeds of how you see yourself and your choices. As in planting and growing an actual seedling, it takes patience and consistent care to change how you perceive yourself and your path.
Write down how you positively affect people. Another shared characteristic many of us have is we may have a difficult time accepting and believing compliments or seeing that what we do or who we are could possibly make a difference for someone else. It is often the subtle nuances of kindness that have an impact we could never fathom.
Meditate, go outside, get grounded and centered. Take the time to be alone and get to know yourself on a deeper level. It’s funny how all of these suggestions are the same advice for so many aspects of spiritual and self-development. Becoming comfortable with yourself opens the floodgates to living life more fully and from a place of empowerment. Be honest with yourself and commit to making a conscious choice about the direction of your life, free from the “should”, “have to”, or “supposed to” mentality.
In her book The Top 5 Regrets of the Dying: A Life Transformed by the Dearly Departed , palliative nurse Bronnie Ware, writes the number one regret from those ready to pass : I wish I’d had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me.

Your message today is one that I have read or heard several times over the past year. It is a particularly powerful message for women, of any age, and never too late to heed. Thank you for reminding us that we are all connected, and we can tap into this energy grid at any time, with intention. Our thoughts are so powerful! It’s never wrong to start with Self! Thanks, Denise, for your inspiration!
Thank You! It’s time for the shift we’ve all been waiting for and I truly believe a big part of that is owning who we came here to be. I’m so glad to hear the message resonated for you! Take Care, Denise
